Build v8.0-preview Released!


Build v8.0 - October 20th, 2023

Note: there are often a LOT of content/balance changes in these builds, due to how early the game is in development. I'd encourage reading these release notes so you know what's up!

Content

  • Totally overhauled the way scoring works. This might be invisible to people playing casually, but previously the order of bonks was tracked globally, not per ball. So if Ball 1 hit Warning, then Ball 2 hit Broom, then Ball 1 hit Corn, Warning into Corn would not trigger, because Corn was not directly after Warning. Starting in this build, bonk order will be tracked PER BALL, which means in the above scenario, Warning into Corn will spawn a Cornballer. This should make scoring more intuitive - if you watch one ball, the order it bonks triggers is the order that its scoring will abide. This was a pretty massive overhaul, so if you suspect there were any bugs introduced by this, please bring up it in the Discord!
  • Treasure Chest now follows these rules: Earn $100 if Map is in the chain, and ifMap is in the chain, then also earn $500 for every Ocean in the chain. Description of Ocean has been improved to make it clear that it enhances Treasure Chest
  • Broom now spawns a Coinball
  • ATM now earns the balance when bonked by ANY ball, including Coinball. Coinball still also increases the balance by $5. Try it out in the lab..

Lab

  • You can right click to remove triggers while building in the lab!
  • Lab now has a different background, so it's clear in screen grabs whether a build was from Lab or Game.

Quality of Life

  • Each Trigger now displays its earnings during scoring, so you can see where the hotspots in your build are!
  • Added a Show/Hide button to peek under the trigger choices between drops. Reminder: you can right click to cancel a choice if you change your mind about a trigger!
  • Adding some margins so the scrollbar would not clip the contents of the scoring tray.
  • Version of game is now displayed.
  • Explain more clearly that Whale can even catch ball halves.

Fixes

  • Improve, and fix, the countdown of how many drops until your next payment.
  • Fixed description of Lucky Charm to include the 75% chance of spawn.
  • Added sound effects for Ghostball and Old One
  • Add Spawner trait to Whale and Ocean
  • Clean up text on trigger choice hint, since "three choices" is not always accurate.
  • Added a missing description to Rainbow.
  • Fixed a soft-lock caused sometimes when Iceball was chopped by Axe
  • Attempted a fix for eggplant soft-lock caused by its general shape. The eggplant is no longer concave.
  • Add general-purpose soft-lock detection. If there are active balls and nothing has been bonked or bumped for 10 seconds, the round will end. (You'll get a $5000 bonus for your pain and suffering. Which I guess means that trying to soft-lock the game is now a viable strat...)
